What are the Technical Requirements for My Computer?
You will need Flash v9.0 Player, which can be downloaded free from www.adobe.com. Set your screen resolution to 1024 × 768 pixels for best results. Pop-ups, JavaScript and cookies must be enabled.

You need to be connected to the Internet at all times while using the course. A broadband connection with a speed of 512 Kb or greater is recommended.

What is a Short Course / Full Course / the ASHRAE eLearning Library?
ASHRAE eLearning web-based training is available as:

• Short Courses: which cover a specific topic in an easy-to-complete length.
• Full Courses: which comprehensively cover a subject area. They are made up of a number of short courses.
• Annual Subscription: to the ASHRAE eLearning Library, which provides access to all courses available during your 12-month subscription. You can take any number or combination of courses.

What courses will I be able to access through the ASHRAE eLearning Library?
By subscribing to the ASHRAE eLearning Library today, you will be able to access the courses now available for a period of 12 months, plus these forthcoming courses from their date of release to the end of your subscription.

How Do the Courses Work?
Short Courses are made up of 3 key parts:

• First is a reading assignment, which introduces and describes key concepts and knowledge. All reading material is provided electronically online as part of the course. These can be printed by the user, if desired.
• Second is a series of interactive exercises. These recap and reinforce the key points with exercises and questions to apply the knowledge. Instant feedback aids understanding as you go along.
• Finally, the End of Module Exam tests and verifies that you have understood the knowledge to a measurable level.

Full Courses are made up of a number of Short Courses; you need to satisfactorily complete all the End of Module Exams to access your Completion / PDH certificate.

How Am I Assessed?
The online End of Module Exam is a multiple-choice test of 10 to 15 questions. You must achieve a mark of 70% to pass and complete the module successfully. A tracking system monitors which modules you have completed.

How Do I Claim PDH?
With a Short Course, when you have completed the End of Module Exam successfully you will be taken to an electronic completion certificate. This can be printed and saved, and used to claim your PDH and maintain your license.
With a Full Course, you will need to successfully complete all End of Module Exams before this certificate is available.

How Long Do the Courses Take?
The PDH allocation gives you a guide to how long you should set aside to complete the courses satisfactorily. This varies from product to product. Short courses are typically 1 to 3 PDHs; Full Courses provide up to 35 PDHs. Please check individual product listings in www.ASHRAE-eLearning.org/catalog.php.

Are ASHRAE eLearning courses accepted for PDHs by all states?
Yes, ASHRAE eLearning courses are recognized for professional development by most states. ASHRAE eLearning courses have PIE approval from the State of New York. It is important that you check with your specific State Board of Professional Engineers to review any additional special requirements.

How do I claim an ASHRAE Membership Discount Online?

Do the Courses Include a Book?
No, all required reading materials are provided online as part of the course, and are included in the standard fee. They can be printed and contain all you need to complete the course.

Some full length courses, such as Fundamentals of HVAC Systems, have hard copy books available as an option. These sell separately for $125. Order from the link provided after you have purchased the course to buy at the reduced price of $49.95, or £29.99 outside the USA.

Courses on ASHRAE standards have no separate hard copy book. All the required extracts from the Standard, and User's Manual if applicable, for the course are embedded electronically in the course. ASHRAE recommends that you obtain the full standard when applying it in practice.

Yes, we have made one Short Course available free of charge so you can try ASHRAE eLearning first hand. Just like all our courses it is accredited for PDH to help you maintain your license while truly developing your skills.
